MARC Statement on Government Shutdown and SNAP Halt

Supporting Our Partner Food Banks During this Time of Increased Need

As our region navigates ongoing uncertainty surrounding the federal shutdown and the potential pause in SNAP benefits, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Cooperative (MARC) remains focused on one thing: ensuring food banks across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic have consistent, flexible access to fresh produce and dry goods to meet the needs of their communities.

We recognize that many food banks are preparing for an increase in demand over the coming weeks. Please know that the MARC team is here to support you. Our operations remain strong, and we are ready to help you supplement your inventory with additional produce, mixed produce boxes, and direct-to-agency deliveries as needed. The MARC was built to serve as a resource in moments like this, and our team is committed to helping you fill the gaps quickly and affordably.

To further ease costs during this challenging period, we are applying our Feeding America freight subsidy to the inbound costs of all MARC items through the end of the calendar year. This will reduce prices by a few cents per pound, helping to maximize savings. Regular pricing will resume in January 2026, once the subsidy has been fully utilized. If your organization still has any remaining Feeding America freight funds, we’re happy to process orders using those dollars to ensure you can make full use of your remaining allocations.

Our network is strongest when we work together. As always, our team is available to assist with planning, order adjustments, or questions about freight and pricing. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us for support at operations@MARCproduce.org.

Thank you for the critical work you do every day to feed families across our region. The MARC is proud to stand beside you as a trusted partner in this mission.
